The Rise of Media Rooms
While the popular features of at-home cinematic entertainment may still consist of an entirely isolated room with no windows, plush theater chairs, and a life-size projection screen, many homeowners are moving toward multi-purpose media rooms instead for immersive entertainment.
Media rooms not only offer more flexibility for the family, but industry-leading brands like Sony and Samsung are coming out with thinner, sleeker—and much bigger—TV screens that can successfully take the place of a projector and screen.
For example, consider The Wall by Samsung. The Wall is a modular MicroLED display that measures up to a whopping 219 inches and delivers a revolutionary viewing experience with the purest blacks, true color, and AI picture enhancement. The Wall boasts 1,600 nits of brightness, making it a perfect display even in ambient lighting.
Sony also featured some massive TVs at CEDIA that are perfect for big-screen entertainment in any media room. Their Master Series Z9G 8K LCD television stood out best at an impressive 98 inches. This TV differentiates itself from the rest by faithfully analyzing every frame of incoming video to ensure the clarity, contrast, and color are as accurate to the creator’s intent as possible.
All About 8K Displays
The display market is back with a vengeance, leading with the new standard of 4K and now the rising trend of 8K resolution. The recent debut of ultra-high-end 8K solutions has truly benefitted the 4K market as consumers now see 4K displays as the new bargain in quality and price. However, 8K is not far behind in making its way into luxury homes.
A notable 8K display showcased at CEDIA was Samsung’s Q900 QLED Smart 8K UHD television. Samsung calls this display their best TV ever, and for good reason. This display combines true-to-life 8K HDR picture quality, AI-powered intelligent upscaling, and smart home-ready features wrapped up in a modern design for a revolutionary TV experience in any room.
Powered by Samsung’s Quantum processor, the Q900 remasters content into stunning 8K detail, optimizes sound for every scene, adjusts brightness to the room’s environment, and customizes content recommendations.
No matter which size screen you choose, which range between 55 and 98 inches, you’ll consistently enjoy intensely deep colors, super-fine details, and astounding cinematic clarity during every viewing experience. That’s the power of 8K—and Samsung.
Biophilia for Better Living
Wellness is a growing trend in all aspects of the smart home, from human-centric lighting control and cleaner air quality to energy automation, and more. But biophilia is also bringing wellness to the home theater too, transforming the oasis for movie lovers to a refuge for those looking to rekindle their relationship with nature.
Biophilia refers to the human’s biological attachment to nature and innate desire to experience the outdoors. These days, we spend more than 90% indoors, and who knows how much of that time is even near a window. Our bodies crave nature, and luckily smart technology can easily simulate sunlight, greener pastures, and the immersive sounds of the outdoors—right inside the home theater.
Imagine a private theater room lined with yoga mats and bean bag chairs. Upon entering, you choose your desired time zone and watch as the lights adjust to simulate the sun at that selected time. Giant video screens envelop you and display a peaceful ocean, lush forest, or another serene environment. 360-degree surround sound and acoustical isolation diligently mimic the sounds you’d hear in that environment. And alas, you’re inside your very own at-home wellness retreat.
